MXGP 2019 - The Official Motocross VideogameDeveloped by: Milestone S.r.l.Published by: Milestone S.r.l.Available on: PS4, Windows, Xbox OneRelease date: August 27, 2019Genre: RacingNumber of players: Single-player; online racingESRB Rating: EveryonePrice:(Humble Store Link)Thank you for sending us this game to review! In the late nineties I enjoyed the Moto Racer games. It’s been a while since I’ve played a motorcycle racing game so I thought I’d give MXGP 2019 - The Official Motocross Videogame a try. If you’re looking for a light-hearted arcade racing game, you’ll want to skip this series. MXGP 2019 - The Official Motocross Videogame lets you play through and possibly change 2019’s MXGP and MX2 championship races. When you launch the game, there are several modes to choose from. In season mode you get to customize your rider, bike, and select your racing team and sponsor. I was bummed that my favorite numbers were not available as the professional racers are using them. As you do better in the races, you’ll be able to get more sponsorships and cash to upgrade your bike and change your appearance. If you just want to hop on a bike and race, you can check out the Quick Modes.
There are three race offerings: Grand Prix, Time Attack, and Championship. Time Attack is a great way to get a feel for the tracks and improving your skills by racing against the ghost of your previous best time. Unlike Grand Prix, the Championship mode lets you choose which racetrack/country to race in. Strong Points: Realistic motorcycle racing game; design and play user created tracksWeak Points: More AI racers than human ones onlineMoral Warnings: Can crash and knock other racers off of their bikes; online players may swear in chat or have offensive namesWhen you start a race, you can get a nice head start if you master the holeshot maneuver which involves timing the clutch correctly. Even with a nice race start I’ve usually found myself in last place after a couple of laps.
I’m pretty sure I’m just bad at this game as many players find the AI too easy. There is a time rewind feature which you can utilize if you go off track or crash and burn.
Veering off of the track for more than a couple of seconds will result in the game putting you back in place. The playground mode is casual and lets you play user map creations. Since I’m not that good at racing, I enjoyed the casual play here. I’m decent at finding waypoints in a timely fashion. The multiplayer lets you find public matches or create private ones.
I had no trouble getting into (and losing) an online match, but out of the twelve racers half of them were bots and the human ones did not speak English. The track editor lets you create tracks in the woods, desert, pacific or Riviera backdrops. I highly recommend going through the tutorial so you learn the basics of track making. You can test out your track while designing it which is cool.Visually this game looks pretty good.
The different locations add variety and the rainy weather conditions look realistic and impair the riders accordingly. The customizable bikes and riders are nicely detailed. The onlookers are often near flags from different countries, which is a nice touch. It’s hard not to notice all of the corporate sponsors and ads with Monster Energy Drink being the most prominent. I wish the songs would continue into the races, but I was stuck hearing bike engine noises. I’m not a biker so I can’t vouch for how accurate they are.If you’re into achievements, this game has fifty of them for you to unlock.
Many of them require you to win Grand Prix races. There are others for customizing your bike or creating and validating tracks. You can play this game with a keyboard or gamepad and I highly recommend the latter. The rumble effects are nice if you have a gamepad that supports them.Though it’s not good for your lap time, it is possible to crash your bike and knock other players off of theirs. The ragdoll physics usually crack me up when watching my biker plop into a sign. There is no blood so this game can be enjoyed by people of all ages.
Online play may be a mixed bag since this game does allow audio chat and players can swear. The player names could be offensive as well. Your mileage may vary.If you’re big into motorcycle racing and MXGP and MX2 championship racing, this game is well worth the sticker price.
However, it has been as low as 50% off and is worth adding to your Steam wishlist to be notified of the next sale.

Submitted on Review title of HangtownBraaapMy favorite motocross racer! I played em all.every mx game since the original excite bike.
Tracks and environments are awesome. The flow and pace of the ai is really well done. Starts are finally right! I dont care bout the track editor or waypoint.gimmicks and garbage.
The editor is a joke. Scrub still sucks. Milestone free the scrub #freethescrubAlso its either a rut or its NOTStop the 'some ruts are there some are just visual madnessThats 2 turds in a great punchbowlThrow in neural ai like gp and you got a masterpiece. Submitted on 9/4/2019 Review title of TheNORSEMEN83BUYER BEWARE??????????✌This game feels rushed And was released too soon. Tracks look good But ruts suck and are only for visual effects. It almost feels like your racing on ice. You can barely tell you're riding on dirt.
The screen shakes non stop giving one a headache. The framerate constantly dips which there is zero excuse for. I have every MX GP game and I have played every motorcross/Supercross game ever made. The clutch is useless so why even put it in the game. In my opinion this game is a step backwards compared to MX GP pro Or Supercross the game1& 2. It maybe the easiest motocross game I have ever played due to the tracks Feeling like you're riding on a dirt track and pathetic jumps.
You can pick any line no matter what and not get cross rutted. Hopefully Milestone releases several patches and fixes this piece of S. I don't see how anyone can give this game 4 stars unless they are employed by milestone.
Buyer beware!!!!!!!!#MileStoneMoneyGrab #Refunds #Shameful2fucPayingCustomers. Submitted on Review title of RTJWILDE MXHeading In The Right Direction! This review is for Milestone and anyone who is wondering if it's worth buying this game. Do not believe in any of the negative reviews at all. I almost didn't buy it because of all the negative reviews, but I bought it anyway.
And I'm glad I did! Trust me, it's worth it!After playing through a couple of seasons, I've discovered one annoyance that seriously needs adjusting. The annoyance I'm referring to is the off track TOLERANCES!!! It's rediculous how inconsistent it is. For example, on a single track, one section might have a tolerance of 1 inch and then around the following corner the tolerance seems to be 3 feet.
Submitted on 8/29/2019 Review title of JRE158A Step backwards from 3 or SX 2Cornering makes no sense. Ruts sometimes work, but mostly just make u unable to turn or slide out in the most unrealistic way. Whip or scrub worse than ever.
Just makes you go weird directions and bounce when you land so completely usless for racing. The grip is equal to 1000cc street bike with slicks in the rain or so much he wont turn. Its like they have no idea how people ride a mx bike, how ruts work, or why racrs scrub. Super frustrating because there is so much potential they seem to ignore. They need to go play Supercross Circuit from 1998 to learn how ruts and scrubs work. I will stick with MXGP 3 or SX 2. This game and PRO were big let downs.
Submitted on 2/5/2020 Review title of PubLic RiSkHoleshot system improved over MXGP 3Overall, I am pretty satisfied with this game. The last MXGP I played was MXGP 3 and I can notice improvements. For one, the holeshot system has drastically improved and much more practical. A big plus, seeing as how I was pretty frustrated with it in MXGP 3.
I also like that they added a 'tear-offs' feature. I don't recommend turning on advanced physics, I only turned it on for one race to get the achievement for it. (probably will never turn it on again) From what I've noticed, all that seems to do is give you zero grip and stability in the rear wheel. I was a long-standing fan of the MX vs ATV series until they botched the handling in MX vs ATV All Out. I took a liking to MXGP because I feel like this game focuses much more on racing which is what I'm interested in. Lastly, this game does feel very flat track/supermotoish in that you basically drift through corners rather than rail ruts or follow a single line. I kind of like that, but everyone is different.
